 What Was the Arena Like?

In 1988, the Victoria Cougars and Seattle Thunderbirds did a pair of home-and-home neutral site regular-season games at the George M. Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, Alaska. They faced off for the first time on September 30 and October 1, and then the same two teams returned again on December 8 and 9. I have no other information about these games apart from that they did happen.

Sullivan Arena, from internet photos, appears to be a smaller clone of Halifax's Metro Centre, with a relatively small lower bowl extending around the ice surface and then two large upper decks on the sides only. It still looks easily WHL-ready should any ownership group be willing to subsidize travel in and out, but Anchorage is a long way from the rest of the league, and from what I understand these four games were the only four meaningful CHL games ever played in Alaska.

 What's It Used for Today?
Sullivan Arena hosted a WCHL, then ECHL team from 1995 to 2017, but it appears that now the top level of hockey played there is the NAHL.
